The Weekend Food Program was started in 2010 by the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church along with volunteers from civic organizations like Rotary to address a growing problem in our South Santa Rosa County Schools of hunger and poor nutrition over the weekend for children from families who receive free lunches at school.
Over the last few years, the program has grown to include every school between Gulf Breeze and Navarre and in the 2016-17 school year, over 525 students participated.
Our goal is to continue to grow the program so that every child in our schools who needs additional nutritional support on weekends has access to it. In order to make that happen, we need to raise additional funds and more volunteers.
The program was split for the 2015-16 school year to make better use of volunteers, and now Navarre schools are served by Outreach Navarre a 501c3 charity. If you would like to learn more, please contact Michelle Abrams @ email@example.com.
Please Consider Donating to Weekend Food Program. It costs $2.50 per week per child. A $10 donation helps feed a child for a month, $100 fees a child for a full school year.
